The winners of the kbbreview Awards 2014 have been unveiled in a glamorous black tie ceremony in Birmingham.

The 750-seat event, the 20th in the awards history, rewarded the very best in kitchen and bathroom design and retail and was sponsored by some of the biggest brands in the industry.

Designer Colin Wong, from Development Direct in Edinburgh, won two trophies after being named the Kitchen Designer of the Year – project cost up to £30,000 and Bathroom Contract Designer of the Year.

The event was hosted by Al Murray, better known as the Pub Landlord.

“It was a fantastic night and once again I offer my huge congratulations to all the very worthy winners,” said kbbreview editor Tim Wallace.

“The kbbreview Awards are a great party – and I think there’ll be a few sore heads this morning. But at their heart, they recognise what’s great about this industry and the retailers that work within it.”

Development Direct Colin Wong Designer Kitchen Awards 2013

‘I was actually quite nervous this year following last year’s amazing win so after being nominated again, I decided just to enjoy the award ceremony win or lose. Having some of my design team with me made for a great day and they seemed more confident than me -it must of been all the free alcohol!

The plush surroundings of the Tower of London really set the stage so when my name was announced for the kitchen designer award, I was genuinely quite shocked but elated to receive the award for the 2nd year running.

The past 24 months will stay with me for life after winning 5 national design awards and I really want to take this opportunity to thank my team for all their hard work and dedication.

I wouldn’t of succeeded without them and after-all, few know that I am cad illiterate and still work with pencil and paper!

Warm thanks must also go out to the team at Pro-publishing for organising the most respected award ceremony for our industry – Clara, Martin and their team uncompromisingly put design at the forefront of all their work and that what makes the designer awards and magazine unrivaled in our industry ‘

Colin
